Wishing you all the happiest Easter you possibly can have during this challenging time, whether you are with your family, friends or alone; whether you are in your country or abroad. We have to take comfort in the small things and be grateful for everything we have.

Let's concentrate on the positive things that are happening to our mother earth and not on what we are missing or not getting. During this time we have changed our lifestyles, by becoming full time parents, juggling video calls and managing our properties while preparing our guests, landlords, sellers and buyers. Hearing our clients who are away from home, some stuck without being able to fly back, some who just arrived, some who thought they had a deal and now don’t. While the pots in our kitchen get hot, and the shopping gets disinfected and put away in the fridge, we have become full time wifes again, house keepers, masters, like in the old times, checking on the kids while they do their best to continue their school lessons as if it was the normal thing to do, while our mobiles ring, we cope, we plan, we clean while connecting, informing and cuddling.

And while you may think this is only difficult for us parents, it is scary for our younger staff, who are always eager to look for opportunities, enthusiastic, full of ideas, taking risks and learning so much from us, ensuring that we the experienced ones, go on and lead the way.

But above all, please spare a thought for those heroes, who alone are saving lifes, for those keeping us safe and fed; for those flying us home, for those who whilst trying to help got sick, for those who keep teaching, for all of those who lost a loved one, for all of those who manage to make this community able to stay home and safe.

If you can, turn off your TV, mobile, computer and enjoy this one in a lifetime Sunday Easter! And pray that it will be over soon.

EL Gordo, lotería de Navidad, ¿Qué es todo?

A medida que pasan los años en España, me doy cuenta de lo poco que sabía de la cultura española, por qué celebran tantas fiestas, por qué la unión familiar es tan importante y por qué valoran tanto sus propiedades ... Aprendí que para ellos, ¡más que dinero eran sus emociones, emociones basadas en la cultura, la fe y deseos de divertirse! No es de extrañar por qué España es en general un país feliz, con fuertes tradiciones y leyes..., ¡pero feliz !. Cuanto más vivo con ellos, más significado encuentro en sus tradiciones y es por eso que nuestro blog de Navidad estará dedicado a EL GORDO, ¡que es el mayor premio de lotería en todo el mundo! Mi primer encuentro serio con un boleto de lotería fue en una fiesta para niños, después de recojer a mi hija, ¡me vendieron un boleto de lotería para financiar una fiesta de Moros y Cristianos, a un costo de 23 euros! ¡Me pareció escandaloso que me ofrecieran un boleto en una fiesta para niños y por 23 euros !, no queriendo ser la única rara, pagué. Más tarde, hablé con una de las madres preguntándole si esto era normal. ¿Era este el precio correcto? ¿Por qué debería financiar una fiesta de Moros y Cristianos? ¿No debería la lotería tratar de financiar personas necesitadas? Para mi sorpresa, la respuesta de esta madre fue: "sí, yo compré dos boletos, es muy bueno, las fiestas en esa aldea son buenisimas"! ... ¿entonces era normal? Tal vez aquí 23 euros no es nada? ¿Me estoy perdiendo de algo? ¡Ella regaló 46 euros! ¡Para una fiesta que ella ni va a ir! Entonces, comencé a investigar y les pregunté a mis amigos expatriados qué pensaban al respecto. Darcy me dijo: "Sí, mi suegra española gasta alrededor de 500 euros en boletos cada Navidad", María dijo: "Sí, mi marido recibe los talones del trabajo, la compañía les da gratuitamente, unos 50 euros". Josefa "Sí, en mi escuela todos los padres de la clase se reúnen y pagan para comprar un gordo"; Ana "Sí, los conseguimos en nuestro pub local, el año pasado ganaron dinero"; Candela "A mi madre le gusta comprarlos en este lugar de Madrid, porque es tradición, este kiosco ha vendido al ganador algunas veces" y Carol "Sí, el equipo de fútbol también los está vendiendo", Entonces, la idea es: una organización compra las entradas en puntos de venta autorizados por 20 euros y las re-vende por 23 euros, la diferencia va a la organización para financiar la caridad, el equipo de fútbol, la fiesta, etc. La Navidad de la Lotería se celebra el 22 de diciembre de cada año, y viene del siglo XVIII, la segunda más larga del mundo, pasó por la guerra civil, bajo el régimen de Franco. Las cifras son barajadas y presentadas por niños de la Escuela de San Ildefonso, una de las escuelas para huérfanos más antiguas de España, de unos 400 años. En los últimos años, también ha estado abierta para niños con familias. Los niños son elegidos por sus habilidades vocales y se preparan durante todo el año para este evento. Hay presión para el niño y al mismo es un honor, un privilegio cantar el número, y Dios ... como cantan!, como los ángeles en un día glorioso. También son conocidos como Los Hijos de la Buena Suerte. Los que son ganadores siempre donan dinero a esta bien merecida escuela. Summer is Still here! Late September 2017 Alicante

It's late September here in Alicante and the restaurant terraces are still bustling with people in shorts and t-shirts enjoying a sangria and tapas in the shade, and families continue to flock to the beach for the late summer sun on the not so overcrowded beaches. Most people think of summer as July and August, however the best time to visit the Costa Blanca is September/October or May/June where temperatures are still in the high 20's to low 30's and the atmosphere is still one of summer. Sabatika – Un Nuevo Destino Exótico

El 22 de Noviembre, nuestrA directora fue invitada a una degustación de menú VIP en el nuevo restaurante Tailandés Sabatika, https://www.facebook.com/sabatikarestaurant/videos/1337725932964930 "Yo sabía que iba a ser comida tailandesa y pensé en degustar sólo algunas tapas asiáticas ... .. nos nos imaginamos la experiencia que estábamos a punto de tener" por Mary Espacioso y elegante capturando la esencia y el glamour de Tailandia, un ambiente diseñado profesionalmente con muebles y tejidos importados, así como los ingredientes más exóticos; la experiencia del sabor hará que se te haga agua la boca. cómo se puede explicar que un simple pescado al vapor en una hoja de plátano sea tan inesperadamente delicioso? Y la mejor parte es que todo es tan fresco y saludable! La degustación resultó ser en una explosion de sabores simples encontraste con sofisticados, como el mango o limones secos engarnizados con especias organicas y asiáticas, todo acompañado con un menú de vino internacional y postres como el budín de té verde caliente! Y encima de todo con un servicio excelente; cada mesa es cuidada por un equipo de camareros, todos con una tarea por completar para cada etapa de su comida. El restaurante viene con un servicio innovador, el propietario de nombre León ( de China), un conocedor de estas empresas, así como un calificado sommelier, sabe que Alicante está cambiando al internacionalismo con más y más gente viniendo a vivir a aquí, por lo que el restaurante ofrece comidas prácticamente todo el día, uno podría empezar a cenar a las 8 pm en vez del habitual 10 pm! Que para nosotros, los extranjeros es una bendición! También se ofrece una serie de cócteles y tapas servidos durante todo el día en el exuberante bar o terraza con vistas al parque Torregolf. Todo con la música House tocada por el famoso DJ Jonathan López, una estrella del programa televisivo "Casado a primera vista", Jonathan te dará la bienvenida como si fuera su casa. La sonrisa y el cuidado en nosotros nos hizo sentir cómodos para sentarse en el bar y más tarde en las sillas atrevidas cavadas en los suelos. ¡Asegúrate de que te tomes una foto con él! La experiencia fue tan buena que nuestra directora decidió repetir la experiencia con sus hijos una semana después, y les encanto! las sillas en el suelo y los platos exóticos tan bonitamente presentados y las pastas fue una sensacion para los peques! La ubicación es excelente, ya que no está en el centro de Alicante, con aparcamiento y un parque para los peques! Fiesta en la Calle!, Los Girasoles San Vicente del Raspeig

Alguna vez se preguntan, ¿por qué los españoles celebran tanto? Cualquier excusa es buena para celebrar una fiesta? ¿Y no puede ser tan divertido si lo hacemos todo el tiempo? Las fiestas en las calles en España, datan de hace muchos muchos años, toda la comunidad vive por ellas, y tarda un año de preparación para poder celebrar el evento. Los gastos, muchas veces se pagan sin tener ninguna financiación del gobierno local, pero gracias a las donaciones privadas y a la voluntad de socializar se mantienen las tradiciones! Así que Los Girasoles, un barrio que se está poniendo de moda, perteneciente a la ciudad de San Vicente, tan cerca del Casco Antiguo y la famosa universidad de San Vicente! A sólo unos 15 minutos en coche de la Playa de San Juan y del Aeropuerto de Alicante! Una zona tranquila donde los problemas no existen, sólo están las grandes villas, con buenas carreteras para coches y motos, se encuentran senderos rurales, algunas tiendas y restaurantes. La fiesta despega en el parque central donde están los cafés y las escuelas. Con mesas colocadas alrededor de una pista de baile, donde también se encuentra el escenario. Con suficiente espacio para caballos profesionales bailando, música, y competiciones para toda la familia!. Para obtener una mesa no es fácil, se necesita ser residente y reservar con antelación pagando unos 60 euros aprox. que es el valor por semana! Así, durante el festival puedes traer tu propia comida, bebidas y disfrutar de las actividades con la familia! Los amigos, vecinos, adolescentes y los pequeños estarán allí, así como el Rey y La Reina de los Girasoles dando glamour!! Excelente manera de unir a toda la familia y disfrutar de una buena fiesta! Son tres generaciones en una pista de baile! Este año MIA Property Boutique tuvo el placer de ser invitado! Por el Gerente de nuestra empresa hermana, José Antonio de Inmobiliaria Aluna, qué gran noche! Un montón de comida, bebida, baile, Bingo y castillos hinchables! Queríamos quedarnos para la fiesta de la Espuma al día siguiente, pero nuestro reloj inglés nos llevó a la cama después de las 3 de la mañana! Las Hogueras 2016 – Fire Festival Alicante

Dating from the 18th Century, this celebration has been been taking place on the longest day of the year, originally related to the farmer’s harvest celebration and exported to the streets of Alicante City, The Hogueras which was banned during its first years, has been unstoppable since 1920! The popularity of this celebration has put Alicante on the Touristic party Maps for the Summer! No matter the economic recessions or water draughts, the Hogueras is a must! and the Alicantinos ensure this happens with so much passion that it is not difficult to get involved! If you live by the city, be prepared to have sleepless nights by the parades and barracas at your door! With fireworks displays and explosions everywhere! The traditional Beauties “las Bellezas” walking and hosting the events will take your breath away! Make sure you get your picture taken with one of them, they really don't mind! And what are “Las Barracas”? Well they are improvise street restaurants and bars, full of delicious smells, drinks and music! At excellent prices! Tables will be reserved by the locals so make sure you know one to let you in, if you don't know one, don't panic there are other ones that will allow in! The Hogueras sculptures built from paper mache following themes imposed by the ayuntamiento, all have a message to give, many times related to politics, every district, main street will have one, they can be as tall as a building and they all compete for a prize! They are set on fire set on the 24th June at 12 pm, right after a massive firework display with the shape of a palm tree jumping off the castle! With chants and provocations to the fire men, the spectators will get a good water splash! Make sure you bring clothes to get changed! If you missed it this year! Don't worry next year it will all over again!

Embolsado de Uvas, Novelda

A que no sabíamos de todo el trabajo que lleva hacer crecer esas uvas deliciosas para los vinos más finos! Novelda, uno de los muchos pueblos en la Provincia de Alicante, con una gran catedral en la plaza principal, con vistas, bodegas y rutas para caminar por el campo! Los locales tiene un secreto..bueno ya no tan secreto! El embolsado de las uvas; con mucho cariño, cuidado y precisión, este acto tiene el efecto de dar a las uvas una textura suave y un sabor único! Y dado que los españoles son muy competitivos y fiesteros, ellos encontraron una buena excusa para competir y celebrar! Quién puede embolsar más? Sorprendentemente se llega a envolsar un promedio de 200 por hora! What is a Romeria? Las Fiestas!

With a religious motive which also involves history and tradition, leaving in many cases the religion to one side to become a celebration of life! A great excuse to stay with the family, get close to your friends and drop all the stress of working or studying!....maybe that’s the trick to have a happy long life! In April, after Easter the Alicantinos do a Romeria, one of the nicest ones in Spain,after the one in Sevilla. This Romeria (peregrination) which is about 8 km long gathers about 20,000 pilgirms! starts at The Cathedral of Saint Nicholas which is in the city center, old part and ends in San Juan Playa, at La Santa Faz Monastery, where the original Canvas of Jesus Christ face rest (for those who don’t know, the canvas is a piece of cloth used to clean Jesus Christ when he was walking with the cross on his shoulder before been crucified). The Santa Faz Romeria, has been performed since the last three centuries, and is undertaken by all ages & backgrounds, even children and pets are involved! While the early walkers enjoy the ceremony along with traditional biscuits and sweet wine, the late ones, (mostly youngsters), start their parade towards what is known here as “El Botellon” “Party in the Street”, which ends at the end of the romeria, taking course to playa San Juan, where drinks, music and food will be brought in shopping trolleys taken from the supermarkets, amazingly there are no casualties involved other than lots of drunk teens on the beach, there are no fights and the next day everything is again clean and pristine like if nothing even happened! How much does it cost? It’s free! may bring along a picnic and stop at any time!, it's totally safe and fun for the kids! Alicante Festival of Classical Guitar 2016

For the fourth year the Auditorio de la Diputación de Alicante (ADDA) presents it's 6 month classical guitar festival featuring 7 concerts from international musicians. Thickets are on sale online at http://www.instanticket.es/, by telephone 902 444 300 and at the ADDA box office.

The festival opened this year on 9th January with Grammy award winning solo classical guitarist David Russell from Scotland.

In the coming months 6 more international musicians take to the stage.

Alicante born Ignacio is considered one of the best guitarists of his generation. Concert with works from Robert de Visée, Johann Sebastian Bach, Salvador Bacarisse, Quitín Esquembre y Joaquín Turina.

All Dogs Go to Heaven, Alicante Memorial Park

There is something about a Ficus, standing alone with long firmed brunches, green fairy leaves and the sparkling rays passing through him to the pond, there hanging from his arms, we appreciate shimmering colourful ribbons, dancing along the rumour of the wind in contrast with the blue sky; every ribbon represents a memoir for the lost of a hairy friend, named to take to heaven and the last love words from the wishful broken hearts, many times written by children learning to cope their grieve and celebrate and honour their dog life in a cheerful manner. Like magic the tree stands embracing colours and thoughts, because perhaps he has witness it all, like an ancient wise old book, this tree will enchant you all! Do dogs go to heaven? We like to think so, and we like to think that we will see them again one day, after all, weren't they our best friend?! What a gorgeous tree, in the dog park by Avenida de la Naciones Unidas Playa San Juan; with ponds, different type of trees, paths and green areas this place is divine for all your pets….even when you do not have a dog watching will be just fine!
